Facts About Recycling

1. Recycling conserves valuable natural resources.
2. Recycling cuts down on materials shipped to landfills
3. Five recycled plastic bottles make enough fiberfill to stuff a ski jacket.
4. Melting down on tonne of recycled steel cans uses only 25% of the energy needed to melt enough ingredients to make one tonne of all new steel.
5. One tonne of recycled paper saves 3700 pounds of wood and 24 000 gallons of water.

What to Recycle?

Newsprint: Newspaper, Telephone books, Flyers and newspaper inserts, magazines and catalogues, soft covered books (covers removed)


Cardboard: Clean corrugated cardboard, box board (cereal, tissue, cracker, shoe boxes)


Metals: Tin and Steel Cans ( remember to wash all cans, remove all lids and labels)


Plastic: Non-coloured plastic milk jugs, non-coloured plastic water jugs, coloured plastic jugs such as detergents, bleach, shampoo, and dish liquid bottles
